Intersting.

So yesterday I was reading a blog….and she asked about water. I didn’t know the answer to her question. So i did my own research. I found this article. I found it very interesting….because it suggests drinking sports drinks during major workouts…

“Experts at the Mayo Clinic suggest that water is fine after short exercise sessions but recommend drinking a sports drink during longer, more intense workouts. Those drinks contain sodium and will reduce your risk of developing hyponatremia, a rare yet possibly life-threatening condition that occurs when you drink too much water”

Check it out here’s the link. ;)

Thanks for the article. I prefer water over most drinks. But a sports drink like Gatorade is good for longer workouts to replace electrolytes. What I do is take 1/2 a Gatorade and dilute it with water. Works out well on days I do 2 hours or more.

SERIOUSLY, THIS needs to be shouted from the roof tops. I swear so many who are dieting are drowning themselves only to lose electrolytes, screw up their digestion and put crazy stress on their urinary systems. Thanks for this great heads up. ;)

I should know, I have reeked havoc on my body BY DRINKING TOO MUCH WATER!!! It is so much better to drink what one requires. Water intoxication must start to be something that we talk about here. I am thinking the only one that people might listen too is a doctor.

You cannot get hyponatremia(a deficiency of sodium) from drinking water during a work out… Yes, it is absolutely possible to drink yourself to death… Too much water and you can litterally drown urself, but this is like 50 glasses of water a day or even more. Sport’s drinks contain way too much sugar..most have more than the recomended daily amount.. Stick with the water..other than that hyponatremia is mainly caused by diarretics.. So please, put down the gatorade and continue drinking water…. :)
